TESTIMONIALS

"Notice that a grievance has been filed against you is a nightmare, a distraction from your practice, and comes with worry about the consequences.  Mitch explained the process, the grievance procedure, and potential outcomes.   He explained what he would do, and quickly prepared a comprehensive and thoughtful response.  Within a couple of months, the matter was resolved by a dismissal of the complaint, based on Mitch’s submission.   If this type of horror were ever to occur again, I would immediately turn to Mitch.  I highly recommend Mitch to expertly handle any grievance matter."    RS

"As a busy practitioner, I understand that grievance complaints are inevitable, even if they’re not justified.  Trying to respond on my own, however, caused me more stress and anxiety than I ever would have imagined.  I’m so grateful that I reached out to Mitch for help.  He recognized the issues, explained the process, and quickly prepared a detailed and thorough response on my behalf.  Within a short time, the matter was resolved favorably.  His knowledge, professionalism, and compassion were so appreciated.  I highly recommend Mitch for any attorney facing a grievance complaint or in need of guidance."  JW

GRIEVANCE COMPLAINTS

If you receive a letter or notice from a grievance committee requesting a response to a complaint, have been asked or subpoenaed to appear for an examination under oath, or are facing formal charges or a motion seeking your suspension, please contact us for a confidential consultation. We will provide caring, competent, and responsive advice and representation. You do not have to face the process alone.

Disciplinary Proceedings

When a grievance complaint escalates into a formal disciplinary proceeding, your license to practice law and your livelihood will be in jeopardy. Such proceedings are complex and nuanced matters involving evidentiary hearings and significant motion practice, both before and after the hearing. Do not leave the matter to chance or to someone inexperienced in the disciplinary field. We are experienced ethics and disciplinary attorneys. Please contact us for a confidential consultation.

Reinstatement to the Bar

If you are a disbarred or suspended New York attorney seeking readmission to the Bar, the application process can be daunting and incredibly stressful. As experienced ethics counsel, we will alleviate some of your anxiety and ensure that your application and presentation reflect the best of what you are and improve your chances of a favorable outcome.

Bar Admission/Character and Fitness Committee

If you are a law student or recent graduate seeking admission to the New York bar and are concerned over a past indiscretion - such as a criminal conviction or school-based discipline – call us! Although you’ve likely researched the issue, there is no substitute for having experienced ethics counsel help you navigate the process and, when necessary, advocate for you before the Character and Fitness Committee.

Guardianship Assistance

When your child with special needs reaches the age of 18, or you feel a parent or loved one requires assistance managing his or her personal or property needs, it may be time to consider a guardianship proceeding. Depending on your circumstances, both the Surrogate’s Court (Article 17-A) and Supreme Court (Article 81) have procedures for the appointment of a guardian. Mr. Borkowsky has represented clients in both courts and can help you navigate this important and sensitive process. Please call today for compassionate and competent representation.
